Getting a Quote
How do I get a flooring quote?
Call us on 020 7224 8876, email sales@yazco.co.uk, or fill in our online contact form. We offer free home visits across Central London: our expert measures your rooms precisely, assesses the subfloor, and brings samples so you can see materials in your own lighting. You receive a clear, itemised quote — typically the same day or within 24 hours.
Is the measuring and consultation really free?
Yes, completely free with no obligation to proceed. We believe that seeing materials in your own home — in your lighting and alongside your existing furnishings — is the only sensible way to choose flooring. Our consultation is as much about giving you expert advice as it is about taking measurements.
How much does carpet fitting cost in London?
As a general guide: entry-level synthetic carpets start from around £15–£20/m² supply and fit; mid-range 80/20 wool-blend twist pile typically runs from £35–£55/m²; and premium wool carpets can range from £60–£100+/m². These prices include gripper rods and door bars. Underlay is priced separately. We provide a transparent, itemised quote — call 020 7224 8876 or book a free home visit.
How much does wood or LVT flooring cost to install in London?
Laminate supply and fit starts from around £25–£40/m². LVT from brands like Karndean or Amtico generally runs from £45–£75/m² supply and fit. Engineered wood flooring (straight lay) starts from approximately £55–£80/m², with herringbone patterns costing more due to the additional cutting and labour. Subfloor preparation is priced additionally where required. We always provide a full itemised quote before work begins.
Carpet
What is the best carpet for a London home?
It depends on the room and lifestyle. For living rooms and bedrooms, an 80/20 wool-blend twist pile or a wool loop carpet provides warmth, durability, and a premium feel. For hallways and stairs, a hard-wearing 100% wool or heavy-duty synthetic twist pile is more practical. For families with pets or young children, solution-dyed nylon or polypropylene offers excellent stain resistance. We stock a wide range of carpets at every price point and will advise on the most suitable option during your free home visit.
What types of carpet do you stock?
We stock a comprehensive range including: wool twist pile, wool loop, wool berber, 80/20 wool-blend, 100% nylon, polypropylene, solution-dyed nylon, Axminster (woven patterned), and Wilton carpets. For commercial use we also supply contract-grade carpet tiles. Visit our showroom at 31 Crawford Street or call 020 7224 8876.
Do you fit stair runners and carpet runners?
Yes. Stair runner installation is a specialist service we offer throughout Central London. We fit runners in wool, sisal, seagrass, and designer carpet fabrics, finished with decorative stair rods in brass, chrome, or antique finishes if desired. Stair runners are particularly popular in Georgian and Victorian townhouses in Marylebone, Belgravia, and Kensington. We measure and cut to your staircase dimensions precisely — call 020 7224 8876 to discuss.
Wood & Laminate Flooring
What is the difference between engineered wood and solid hardwood?
Solid hardwood is milled from a single piece of timber and is highly durable but sensitive to moisture and temperature changes. Engineered wood has a real hardwood top layer bonded to a stable plywood or HDF core, making it far more dimensionally stable. Engineered wood can be used with underfloor heating, in ground-floor rooms with slight moisture risk, and in flats. It can also be sanded and refinished multiple times depending on the thickness of the wear layer — making it a long-term investment comparable to solid wood.
Do you install herringbone and parquet flooring in London?
Yes — herringbone and parquet installation is one of our specialities. We fit engineered oak herringbone, chevron patterns, traditional block parquet, and versailles panels across Central London. Herringbone is especially popular in period properties in Marylebone, Kensington, Belgravia, and St John's Wood. We work with Boen, Kährs, and Furlong engineered boards suitable for underfloor heating. Call 020 7224 8876 to discuss your project.
Can you install wood flooring over underfloor heating?
Yes. Engineered wood flooring — particularly boards with a plywood core — is suitable for use over both wet (water pipe) and electric underfloor heating systems. The key requirements are that the surface temperature does not exceed 27°C, that the flooring is properly acclimatised before installation, and that the correct underlay or adhesive method is used. Solid hardwood is generally not recommended over underfloor heating. LVT is also an excellent, fully compatible choice for rooms with underfloor heating.
LVT & Vinyl Flooring
What is LVT flooring and why is it popular in London flats?
LVT (Luxury Vinyl Tile or Tile/Plank) is a multi-layer synthetic flooring with a realistic printed wood or stone surface, a durable wear layer, and a rigid or flexible core. It is fully waterproof, warm underfoot, quiet, and available in a vast range of designs. It is one of the most popular flooring choices for London flats because it meets building regulations for sound insulation (with acoustic underlay), works with underfloor heating, and is extremely hard-wearing — ideal for rental properties. We stock Karndean, Amtico, and Polyflor.
What is the difference between LVT and laminate flooring?
LVT is made from PVC and is fully waterproof, making it suitable for kitchens, bathrooms, and utility rooms. Laminate has a wood-fibre HDF core and is not suitable for genuinely wet areas (though water-resistant versions exist). LVT is warmer and quieter underfoot than laminate and more easily meets acoustic regulations in London flats. Quality laminate is a cost-effective option for bedrooms and living rooms where water is not a concern.
Is Karndean or Amtico better?
Both are premium British LVT brands and both are stocked and installed by Yazco. Karndean is particularly strong on wood-effect designs and offers the popular LooseLay range (no adhesive required — ideal for rentals). Amtico's Spacia and Signature collections offer a wider range of custom tile and stone patterns. The best choice depends on your room, budget, and aesthetic. We bring samples from both during a free home consultation — call 020 7224 8876.
Installation & Process
How long does a flooring installation take?
Carpet fitting is typically the quickest — often one day for two to four rooms. Engineered wood takes one to two days plus a 48–72 hour acclimatisation period beforehand. LVT and vinyl installations are generally one to two days. Laminate follows a similar timeline. If subfloor preparation is needed — levelling, screeding, or ply boarding — this adds one to two days before fitting begins. We provide a detailed timeline with your quote.
Do you move furniture during installation?
We can move light to medium furniture as part of the installation service. Very heavy items — pianos, large wardrobes, heavy bookshelves — should be moved before our team arrives. Personal items, breakables, and electronics should also be cleared. We will discuss room preparation in detail during your free survey.
What subfloor preparation do you offer?
A sound subfloor is essential for a lasting installation. We offer: self-levelling compound or latex screed for uneven floors; ply boarding (6mm or 9mm WBP plywood) over uneven timber subfloors; concrete grinding for high spots; removal of old adhesive; and damp-proof membrane installation where moisture is present. Subfloor prep is assessed during your free survey and priced clearly in your quote.
Do you uplift and dispose of old flooring?
Yes. We offer uplift and responsible disposal of existing flooring as an optional add-on: carpet, gripper rods, underlay, vinyl sheet, tiles, laminate, or wood flooring. This is priced clearly in your quote. We leave your home clean and ready for the new installation.
Do your installations come with a guarantee?
Yes. All Yazco installations are covered by a 12-month workmanship guarantee. If any fitting defect appears within 12 months we will return and rectify it at no charge. Flooring products also carry their individual manufacturer warranties, which we pass on to you. We are fully insured and all work is carried out to industry standards.
Commercial Flooring
What commercial flooring do you offer for London offices?
We offer a full range of commercial flooring including heavy-duty carpet tiles (Interface, Burmatex, Heckmondwike), commercial-grade LVT and vinyl sheet flooring, entrance matting systems, and safety flooring. We can work outside standard business hours to minimise disruption. All commercial installations are carried out by fully insured, experienced fitters. Call 020 7224 8876 for a commercial consultation.
